Vivana 2010 ECU is completely designed and manufactured by the team. This ECU is optimized for an one-cylinder engine and powered by an AVR 8-bit microcontroller. here is some specifications about this ECU:

Shell Eco-marathone 2009

A brief Introduction of the next project will be done by the IUT Supermileage Team which will participate in 2009 Shell Eco-Marathon competitions.

This project has started since 2008. The most important concept in designing and building the vehicle in order to optimize the fuel consumption. In other hand we are going to obey the rules of 2009 Shell Eco-Marathon competition.

We divided our project into phases and in each phase the team trying to reach the goal of the phase so each phase has its particular goal. Whole project will be done in order to cover all of mistakes of the last project and reach to the best design step by step.

Our team is eager to find out the problems and solve them. So we are working on the project for the year 2009 and it has been programmed to participate in this competition as well.

We are going to start structing Supermileage, which means that every part had been designed and estimated according to the rules of competition.

Many hard working students in different fields help IUT Supermileage team, mechanical engineering students, electrical engineering students, industrial engineering students. Definitely the team requires professional experiences as well. In each level of work we use our last experiences, comparing them with our new knowledge and conclude the best answer for each section.

What happened in Shell Eco-Marathon 2008?

After about one year finally IUT Supermileage team became able to participate in Shell Eco-Marathon 2008, at Nogaro motor circuit as its first experience.
As it was announced since before, about 200 teams from different European countries participated and competed there with their vehicles in many fields and with different sources of energy.
IUT supermileage team from Iran was the only Asian team among these European competitors.
It was really a wonderful technical experience for all of us. It was a good opportunity to become familiar with new ideas and innovations which are utilized in various aspects like materials, mechanisms and laboratorial equipments.
No one among us expected to achieve an excellent result in the first presence.
But although we did not have enough time and experience:

Our work was noticed by the organizer, experts and other competitors.
We became candidate for the technical innovation/Eco conception/ and social activity award.
We won the first prize of social activity.
Our presence as the first presence of an Asian team was so considerable for the Shell organizers.
One of our Members (Mehran Salehi) participated in the round table held in the site of the competition and presented in several interviews.

Considering our abilities and experiences achieved in the first participation, next year is an excellent opportunity to try more and improve the result.
Hope to more efficiency in Germany, 2009.

Shell Eco-marathon for the first time in Asia

We are less than a year away from the first Shell Eco-marathon in Asia. Come 8 - 10 July
2010, Malaysia will be the first country to host the event in this region. The Sepang
International Circuit, home to the Malaysian leg of the Formula One Championship and
World Motorcycle Grand Prix, has been chosen to be the home ground of this challenge.
Shell Eco-marathon is not your usual auto race. Participants are evaluated based on
creativity and innovativeness in meeting the energy challenge. Simply put, the team that
designs and builds a vehicle that uses the least amount of energy to travel the farthest
distance wins the competition.

Competition

The Supermileage® competition provides engineering and technology students with a challenging design project that involves the development and construction of a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Vehicles are powered by a small four-cycle engine. Students have the opportunity to set a world fuel economy record and increase public awareness of fuel economy.

Considering lack of fuel and gasoline problems particularly in Iran, we decided to prove: if we obey some simple principles in our designs, and select more optimized systems, parts and materials we will see a great decreasing in fuel consumption

SAE Supermileage Competition

The traditional ‘Supermileage’ is an annual SAE student engineering competition. The event takes place every year in Marshall, Michigan, at the Eaton Proving Grounds. Students compete against teams from across Canada, USA, Latin America and even India.
The next SAE Supermileage competition will be held from June 3-4th, 2008.

ARIA 2008
The First Vehicle Designed & Constructed by IUT Supermileage Team

This project has started since April 2007. The most important concept in designing and building the vehicle was to optimize the fuel consumption. In other hand it was tried to obey the rules of 2008 Shell Eco-Marathon competition.

This is a brief description for the ARIA:

Year of the project: 2007-2008
Length: 2950mm
Height: 670 mm
Width: 750 mm
Net Weight: 34 kg
Engine: A modified Single Cylinder Honda GX35 - Fuel Injection System - Max. Of RPM: 7000 - 2hp power – Max of torque: 2 N.m – Volume: 148 cc – compression ratio: 8:1 – Modeled and analyzed by the GT Suite software.
Transmission System: CVP hub with a continuous range of gear ratios between 0.5 and 1.75 which makes the driver able to change the gear ratio when he wants and how much he wants. The power is coming from the engine to the driver wheel via a chain and sprocket mechanism and multiplied by the ratio the driver determined by the CVP manual control switch.
Frame: An Al.7075 structure – 8 kilograms – Constructed by TIG welding – Structural analysis in ANSYS software.
Body: Drag coefficient: 0.12 Calculated with ANSYS CFX software – 3 layers of Carbon Fiber constructed by a hand CMM process for the mold. The mold is made from MDF sections with just 16 mm of thickness.
Equipped with a monitoring system to display the fuel consumption at any moment.
Adjustable steering system which made the driver able to select his/her desire position. Modeled and analyzed by MSC ADAMS and SIM Designer Software.

This vehicle was presented in 2008 Shell Eco-Marathon event. It was candidate for the 2 special awards: ECO-Conception and Technical innovations awards but did not win these awards finally.

Although fortunately the team has won the social activity award which related to some management affairs and moderating the team at Nogaro motor circuit and the presentations have presented by the team members. It was a satisfactory result as the first experience.
